Web Host News Now

STARTLOGIC.COM is the worst web host I have ever come across. They will lose your website's statistics and tell you they are fine...

This has happened about a dozen times in less than 8 months. Want to see and analyze the traffic to your website? You will not be able to do it with STARTLOGIC.COM!

Also, about twice a week STARTLOGIC will tell you they are having trouble with their e-mail, and your site's email has most likely been effected. I.E. NOT EVEN EMAIL WORKS WITH STARTLOGIC!!

Shopping around for a host for my forum.
Forum size (predicted) in on year 5k-15k, I hope.

I would like to enable search. But could hold off.
Will have user control panel for each member
private messaging enabled
Some may want a video avatar (Perhaps I should not offer)

I have talked to a provider. I not sure if I can name them (forum rules)
They said the 14.95 shared hosting will be faster than their basic VPS. This I thought was a reassuring answer. Not concerned (at this time at least) in up-sell me.

I thought this to be good for me because it would allow me to get familiar with CPanel + Fantastico Auto Installer. Don't get me wrong I would like to spend less and I could afford more but I would like to grow with my system as to permit me to learn. I also would like to stay with the same host and just continue to upgrade within their company. Just seems like the smarter thing to do.
1GB RAID Protected Disk Space 60GB Premium Multi-Homed Bandwidth just seems so small for a 10,000 member forum. They do offer 2500MB RAID Protected Disk Space 160GB Premium Multi-Homed Bandwidth for 24 bucks. what would you do?

I am looking for some hosting service which can handle a few spam complaints.

I am basically emailing 500-1000 emails a day, they are NOT spam, but nevertheless I want to be on the safe side.

I am looking for any hosting or offshore hosting, which will not shut down my accounts.

I recently was sent to a 'spoof' paypal login page, when tracing the domain back it lead back to being hosted on a webcity.com.au server. Of course I contacted paypal immediately to inform them of this and the servers involved in hosting and executing the script.

I received a standard e-mail back from paypal a few days later thanking me for my report and said there is already and ongoing investigation into the site I reported and that they where taking all appropriate actions against all the parties involved.

I used webcitys form to support a ticket to let them know about this site being hosted on their servers (DNS trace ect included), and let them know I had reported the site to paypal and informed them of the ongoing investigation and that they would be taken action against all the parties involved.

I then received a rather childish and immature e-mail back from them saying:

"Please read our terms and conditions before making legal threats whichyou are not qualified to do."

Nice to see that webcity are taking the matter seriously and being mature about the situation.
