Reseller Zoom, Advice on getting a refund under 30 day guarantee

Posted by: psh1  :  Category: Hosting
I had a reseller account with Reseller Zoom, however due to a number of outages and support I was not happy with I decided to cancel well within their 30 day money back guarantee period.

Iv'e had excuse after excuse from their management that they are too busy with tickets and that they will action my refund within 5 days. 7 days later no luck and Paypal don't seem interested.

Any advice on how I can get my money back from them?

If it sounds too good to be true…

As mentioned in another thread I started today, I'm considering moving to a cheaper dedicated server instead of renewing the old one I'm on now.

I just discovered the forum for web offers here (Web Hosting Talk: Advertising Forums: Web Hosting Offers: Dedicated Hosting Offers) and a brief perusal revealed offers like this one:

Intel Xeon 3320 Quad Core (4 x 2.5Ghz)
- 8GB RAM
- 2 x 500GB SATA HDDs (Software RAID1)
- 2000 GB Bandwidth
- 100 Mbit port
- 29x Usable IP Addresses
- Free Setup
$149.95 / month!

There were a few similar offers but this one looked the best to me -- almost too good to be true.

As I investigated further I couldn't find out much about the company, their site seemed slapped together and seems like a one man show, perhaps someone buying colo space/servers and reselling them. But then again, that's just my impression.

I compared the price and system features with offerings from my current host, and a number of other brand name hosts, and they are all more than double the price listed in this offer.

Has anyone found deals like this here and used them satisfactorily -- or are most of these listings just scams? (Sorry if scams is too harsh a word.)

What is your opinion regarding server status?

Posted by: Neokenzo  :  Category: Hosting
Lately some of the webhost companies that I looked does not have a server status. What are your thoughts regarding this? Should a company be trusted if they dont show their server status? I mean a good webhost with good uptime I presume would want to show how stable their server. Is there any good reason for not showing it?

What are the beneifts of RAM ?

I've just upgraded my server on Liquid Web:

Processor: Pentium 4 3GHZ Hyperthreaded
Memory: 4GB DDR SDRAM
HDD 160G Sata
Centos 5

My question is, what's the benefits of RAM to my websites in comparison to CPU.

Also as a client of Liquidweb for over 6 months, I've experienced a lot of downtime, hence why've I upgraded to 4GB Ram, but I just want to know how this help.

Thanks :agree:

Recommend a hosting strategy to complement growth of business

I am starting up a music promotions and artist dev. business. Currently I am hosting my sites on Dreamhost. They're OK - but support is wanting. I can't expect a lot I guess due to the structure of their business plan or for what I am paying. I recently had my site hacked via the Odmarco script exploit and their support wasn't very supportive. I fully understand that it may be one of my plug-ins or scripts that's vulnerable - but to not give me more guidance than just a form letter notice just isn't very helpful.

My sites mostly need blog/CMS support ie. Wordpress and Joomla mainly. And some bandwidth and space for music and video. I also do some reselling though it's not a real income source, so I could just as easily drop that.

I was thinking of possibly jumping to HostGator while tracking my growth and then moving to a VPS service like WaveWeb or HawkHost. But then I thought why not move to the shared hosting on WW or HH and then transition to VPS on their servers when the time comes.

Anyone know if this is a sound strategy? Do the shared hosting services provided by WW or HH have the same issues as that of DH or HostGator or similar providers?

Does anyone have a recommendation as to how to proceed or what you would do in my shoes?

My budget - I'd like to stay in the $10/month range or $20/month if I can resell services and there are one click installs for WP and Joomla and such.

I don't want to manage servers. I have enough of that at my day job;-)

Thanks

Charles
