February 3, 2012 -- Cloud computing solutions and managed IT service provider Claris Networks announced on Friday it has named Walt Robinson as senior vice president of corporate development. He will be located in the company's Chattanooga, Tennessee branch office, and he will service the surrounding region. Robinson brings more than 25 years of broad marketing, finance and corporate strategy experience to the role. He will be responsible for driving Claris' medium and large enterprise client strategies.

Q9 Houses NYSE’s Financial Transaction Infrastructure at Toronto Data Center

February 3, 2012 -- Data center operator Q9 Networks announced on Thursday it has been selected by NYSE Technologies, the commercial technology unit of NYSE Euronext, to host a secure financial transaction infrastructure access center. The agreement will extend the SFTI backbone into Q9's Toronto data center, enabling Canadian customers to directly access services over the global capital markets network.

Media Organizations Spent Thousands on Lobbying of SOPA and PIPA: Report

February 3, 2012 -- Non-profit research organization Media Matters for America has released statistics that illustrate how much media conglomerates spent on hiring firms to lobby SOPA and PIPA. In total, it is estimated that 28 different lobbying firms were hired to lobby Congress on SOPA and PIPA.

IT Services Firm High Touch Buys Web Host UniComData, Dallas Data Center

February 3, 2012 -- Kansas-based IT services provider High Touch announced on Friday it has acquired managed hosting provider UniComData and colocation provider Dallas Data Center, according to a report by The Wichita Business Journal. The terms of both transactions were not disclosed. The move follows last month's acquisition of web development firm NewBase.
