Need good web host for startup

Hi,
This is my first post and is the reason I joined this forum. It was recommended to me by the host of 5 star affiliate marketing forums.I have been doing much research on marketing for quite awhile and finally decided to try it. Then I tried researching webhosting and it turned into a bit of a nightmare.
First I decided to buy a domain name as most of the better advice I found indicates that owning your own domain name is the best way to go. I bought one on godaddy-actually two because I got the a second one for 90 cents. I didn't intend to use them for hosting after reading too many bad things about their hosting service. Then I discovered that 3 months free webhosting came with the domain names. After trying to use this site for a couple of days I decided it wasn't worth the effort, even if it is free. That experience is somthing I don't want to repeat with a paid site.
The massive overload of info about webhosts is comlicated sooo much by the misleading info and tainted reviews from people with their own agendas as to make it impossible to decide with any clarity. It's not as though I need all that much to get started but I realize that I do need a reliable and honest web host or I am in trouble from the start.
So this is what I would like to find-
-A good cheap host- with a reasonable priced upgrade if I ever need it-
-At least good support-preferably good at explaining things to people who know very little about techie issues
-Must have a paid monthly option
-One where I can have multible sites
-A very user friendly site as I am no techie(understatement)
-One which will let me transfer at least one of my domain names free-and make it private free would be a nice bonus

I don't need all the bells and whisles. The truth is I don't know what many of them are anyway. I want to build simple sites that are large on info and short on fancy stuff so I don't require a ton of bandwith. To me it's more important to have pages that load fast because people don't wait long for a site to load. I believe on the net there is only the quick and the dead-lol.
Also with my requirments in mind, do you know of any free webhosts that I could use to tie to my paid site that allow you to use links to another site without putting their own ads on your site?
Yes I do need a lot of help and I would appreciate any info you can offer.

Thank you
ralcan
